Air one’s dirty laundry (or linen)

Good morning, from all of us at Lahjaty!

Great question today:

So in the US we usually hear “don’t air your dirty laundry” — (in the UK they might say “linen” instead of laundry)

which means “don’t discuss very private, personal matters in public”

Example:

John: If Nancy would stop nagging me so much, I might be more inclined to help around the house!

Guest: John, don’t air you and your wife’s dirty laundry. We don’t want to hear it.

Have a great day!

Regards,
